Haliey Welch, or as many know her, “Hawk Tuah Girl,” is said to have sold her X (formerly Twitter) account for an estimated $325,000 to $350,000. This account which was once followed by close to 400,000 users has now been switched to “Up Only Memes.” That abrupt change has sent rumors flying, but no one has provided proof or confirmation, including Welch herself.

Welch’s internet notoriety exploded back in 2024 during the 2024, however, her 2025 was not that smooth sailing for her short lived career. Her struggles began with the $HAWK meme coin which made its debut in December. It reached a staggering half a billion dollar valuation before crashing 95% in mere hours. Many investors labeled it a classic case of a pump-and-dump scheme.

Though Welch was not directly associated with the lawsuit that was filed against the coin’s promoters, she did take the brunt of social media backlash for it. To make matters worse, in March 2025, her X account was suspended without reason which sparked further conspiracy.

The rebranded account’s profile screenshot claiming a $325,000 offer sent on July 9, 2025, sparked speculation regarding the sale. Popular accounts, like @DailyLoud and @DramaAlert, picked up the story, speculating the sale was approximately a dollar per follower.

Some began to speculate Welch had sold the account to offset expenses related to the memecoin debacle. To many this feels like a cash-out situation, a riding into the sunset moment with a large bag of cash.
